RASUWA — Two people trapped inside the tunnel of the Trishuli-3 ‘A’ hydropower project were rescued alive on Thursday following the devastating flood that hit the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Bhadra 10.
Rescue teams pulled the survivors from the tunnel as operations continued amid challenging conditions. Authorities confirmed the two were found alive and have received medical attention.
Rescue operations for other missing workers are still ongoing.
According to officials, 945 workers from 12 hydropower projects remain missing across the flood-hit area. As of today, Sept. 4, 2026, search and rescue efforts are underway inside all affected tunnels.
The flood, triggered by the Bhotekoshi River surge on Bhadra 10, damaged multiple hydropower sites in Rasuwa district and left hundreds of workers unaccounted for. Emergency teams, including the Nepal Army, police, and local volunteers, have been deployed for round-the-clock rescue and recovery work.
Authorities said the priority remains locating and extracting those still trapped, while also ensuring safety for rescue personnel working inside unstable tunnel structures.
