DAVAO REGION — The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) XI has confirmed four fatalities following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Maasim, Sarangani on Monday, June 8.

In its latest situation report released at 9:00 a.m. on June 9, 2026, the agency reported that three of the recorded deaths were from Balut, Davao Occidental, while one fatality was reported in Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Authorities continue to conduct damage assessments and validate reports from affected areas as emergency response operations remain underway across communities impacted by the powerful earthquake.

The RDRRMC XI said monitoring efforts are ongoing to determine the full extent of the disaster’s impact, including possible additional casualties, infrastructure damage, and other earthquake-related incidents.

Meanwhile, officials are urging residents to remain vigilant as aftershocks may still occur. The public is advised to follow safety protocols and heed instructions from local government units and disaster management authorities.
