Vicente N. Pichon IV | TARRAGONA, Davao Oriental — Environmental conservation will take center stage in the opening of the first-ever Ka’aNiYogan Festival in Tarragona, Davao Oriental, with a Tree Planting and Coastal Clean-Up Activity set on June 12.

This was announced by Art Benjie “Kaka” Bulaong, who revealed that the activity will be spearheaded by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) as part of the local government’s continuing efforts to preserve Tarragona’s natural resources and agricultural wealth.

Mayor Bulaong himself will lead the inaugural Ka’aNiYogan Festival, emphasizing that the celebration is not only intended to honor Tarragona’s agricultural products but also to recognize the resilience, unity, and sustainability of its people.

Tarragona is widely known for its vast agricultural lands planted with high-value crops. The municipality also plays a significant role in the coconut industry of the Davao Region. In addition, local communities remain active in cultivating bananas and emergency food crops such as breadfruit.

The mayor expressed optimism that the first Ka’aNiYogan Festival will become a major success and serve as the beginning of a new tradition that unites the people of Tarragona in celebrating their agricultural achievements, natural beauty, and strong sense of community.

Beyond agriculture, Tarragona takes pride in its pristine beaches and scenic landscapes, which have increasingly attracted visitors to the eastern part of Mindanao.

The Ka’aNiYogan Festival is expected to become a flagship event showcasing Tarragona’s agricultural potential, natural attractions, and community spirit. The celebration also coincides with the observance of the 28th anniversary of the Philippine Independence Day.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bulaong assured residents that the local government will continue implementing its cash relief assistance initiatives under the Alalay sa Krisis Program to ensure that support and government services remain accessible to the community as preparations for the festival continue.
